Your ESET security product can detect potentially unwanted or unsafe applications before they are installed on your computer. When you install your ESET security product, you are prompted to enable or disable detection of Potentially unwanted applications. Detection of Potentially unsafe applications is disabled by default. To change either of these settings after installation, follow the instructions below:

NOTE: Potentially unwanted applications are programs that may not be intentionally malicious, but can negatively affect the performance and reliability of the system or send information to third parties. Potentially unsafe applications, such as keyloggers and password-cracking tools, can have legitimate uses but can also be components of malware.
- Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon
next to the system clock or by clicking Start →All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.
- Press the F5 key to open the Advanced Setup window.
- From the Advanced Setup tree on the left, click Antivirus and antispyware. In the Automatic startup file check section, click Setup....
- In the ThreatSense engine parameter setup window, click Options on the left. Then, select or deselect the Potentially unwanted applications and Potentially unsafe applications options according to your preferences. Click OK to confirm.

- From the Advanced Setup tree on the left, click Antivirus and antispyware and then click Real-time file system protection. From the Real-time file system protection area, click Setup... .
- In the ThreatSense Parameter window, click Options on left. Then, duplicate the settings you selected in step 4. Click OK to confirm and OK again to exit Advanced Setup.
