After purchasing or renewing a license for ESET server solutions for Linux/BSD/Solaris (ESET Mail Security, ESET File Security, ESET Gateway Security), you will receive an email containing your authorization data (username, password and license key). You will need this information to receive program updates and/or to upgrade your ESET server solution to the latest version. You will also need to enter your username and password to download the installation package. If you renewed your license after the expiration date, it may take up to 12 hours to receive the latest program updates or download the latest version of your ESET server solution.

To download, unpack/install and configure your ESET server solution, follow the steps below:

1. Download the installation package for the ESET server solution of your choice. Click the link below to access the download page for your ESET server solution and then click the green arrow to the right of your desired version. After clicking the download link, you will need to enter your username and password to begin the download.

   • ESET Gateway Security
   • ESET Mail Security
   • ESET File Security

2. To run the installation package from the shell, use the following command:

   sh ./packagename

    

   NOTE:

   In the command above, replace packagename with the name of the ESET installation package you downloaded in step 1.

    

3. To configure your ESET server solution, edit esets.cfg, verifying that your username and password are entered correctly when you do so. Click one of the links below for your ESET server solution manual, with complete instructions on configuring your ESET server solution with esets.cfg found in Chapter 7.

   • ESET Mail Security
   • ESET File Security
   • ESET Gateway Security

4. Import your ESET license file with following string of commands:

   sudo esets_lic --list
   sudo esets_lic --import nod32.lic
   sudo esets_lic --list
   

   The last command will return your license information. For example:

   /etc/esets/license/esets_5ee573.lic: ESET Mail Security, 2011-01-02 01:00:00, ESET
   /etc/esets/license/esets_e805ec.lic: ESET Gateway Security, 2011-01-02 01:00:00, ESET
   /etc/esets/license/esets_a905cf.lic: ESET File Security, 2011-01-02 01:00:00, ESET
   

5. Start the esets_daemon.

/etc/init.d/esets_daemon start

6. Verify the esets_daemon is running properly from the shell ps.

   ps aux | grep esets

   Specific parameters may vary by operating system.
