If your ESET security product is unable to update, you may receive a warning from the Windows 7 Action Center. However, you can only resolve the issue from the main program window in your ESET security product. To troubleshoot an update issue, see the list of troubleshooting steps below:
- Check your username and password. Open the main program window by clicking the ESET icon
next to the system clock or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Click Update → Username and Password setup.... Verify that your username and password are entered correctly and then click OK. The following are EXAMPLES only:
Username: EAV-12345678
Password: abcde12345
Important! Please remember to enter your username and password exactly as they are written.
-The username and password are case sensitive and the hyphen in the username is necessary
-The password is ten characters long and all lowercase
-If you are copying and pasting, make sure you don't select an extra blank space
-We do not use the letter L in passwords (use the number one (1) instead)
-A big '0' is the number zero (0), a little 'o' is the lowercase letter o - Confirm you are using the correct ESET security product and license. For example, if you purchased a license for ESET NOD32 Antivirus, verify that you downloaded and installed ESET NOD32 Antivirus, not ESET Smart Security.
- An Internet connection is required for updates. Verify that your internet connection is active: Open a browser window and go to http://www.google.com
