Uninstalling ESET from your Mac Network: Instructions to perform a remote uninstall

- Have your ESET-issued Username and Password ready, you will be prompted to enter them to download your ESET product. Download and save the following ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac installer:

- To begin installation, double-click ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4 Install Disk
Install. Click Continue to launch the installation wizard. Running two antivirus products on the same computer can degrade performance and cause system instability. It is important that any previously installed antivirus software is uninstalled from your system before installing your ESET security product. Click here for a list of common Mac antivirus uninstallers.

- The Read Me window displays the program's key features and system requirements. After reading click Continue.

Agree to accept the ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac License agreement.

- In the Installation Mode window, select Remote (prepares files for remote installation) option and click Continue.

- In the Update window, enter your ESET-issued Username and Password and click Continue. Enter your username and password exactly as they are written in your ESET registration email.

- From the Proxy Server window, select Use system settings (Recommended) and click Continue.

- Next, enter the ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) server parameters (server IP address, port and password) to automatically connect to the ERA server after the installation, and then click Continue.

- If you want to define which users will be able to modify the ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac program settings after it is installed, select Define privileged users from the Privileges window. You can then select the user(s) from the Users group and click Add. Click Continue.

- In the ThreatSense.Net window, you can enable the ThreatSense.Net Early Warning System option which helps ESET react quickly to newly emerging threats and click Continue.

- In the next window, Special Applications, enable or disable detection of potentially unwanted applications according to your preferences and click Continue.

- In the Remote Installation Files window, click Browse to choose a destination folder that contains no files at the time of installation (you may want to create a new folder). Click Save to create the installation package (esets_remote_install.pkg), setup shell script (esets_setup.sh) and uninstallation shell script (esets_remote_uninstall.sh).

- ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac can be installed on target computers using the Apple Remote Desktop or any other tool that supports installation of standard Mac packages (.pkg), by copying the files and running shell scripts on target computers.
In Apple Remote Desktop:
- Click the Copy icon in Apple Remote Desktop.
- Click the + button to locate the installation shell script (esets_setup.sh).
- Select /tmp from the Place items in drop-down menu and click Copy.
- Click the Copy icon in Apple Remote Desktop.
- Click Install to install ESET NOD32 Antivirus for Mac on your target computers.

- Open Apple Remote Desktop and click Copy.
- In the Copy Items window, click the + button to browse to and select the uninstallation shell script (esets_remote_uninstall.sh which was created along with the installation package) and then click Copy.
- Click the UNIX icon, enter a UNIX command to run the uninstallation shell script (for example, /tmp/esets_remote_uninstall.sh) (see Figure 1-17).
- Under Run command as select User, type root into the User field and then click Send. After successful uninstallation, a console log will be shown.
