Kerio's approach and changes

In late 2013, Kerio will remove the antivirus plug-in dialog from the administrator interfaces of Kerio Control 7.4 and Kerio Connect 7.5:

Important!

In 2013, plug-in code will be removed completely. If customers upgrade from the older version to a more recent one, they will no longer be able to use Kerio in conjunction with ESET solutions.

    • Kerio Winroute Firewall 6.6x and newer

ESET's approach:

ESET will continue to sell Kerio licenses, but with the following adjustments:

  1. Customers using older versions of Kerio products will continue to have use of their ESET product(s).
  2. Under current circumstances, ESET will not be releasing any newer products supporting Kerio integration (this is valid for Kerio Connect on Linux, which is dependent on ESET Mail Security for Linux/BSD/Solaris third generation).
  3. Customers willing to migrate their license to other ESET products (ESET Mail Security / ESET Gateway Security, as recommended by Kerio) will be able to do so with no charge.

What to do if I want to keep using my Kerio product in conjunction with ESET?

You can do so, however to ensure compatibility you will need to be running supported versions of Kerio and ESET products as listed above. If you want to upgrade to a more recent version of Kerio, you can upgrade no higher than Kerio Connect 7.5.x or Kerio Control 7.4.x. Otherwise, you will not be able to use ESET products in conjunction with Kerio.

Example scenarios:

  1. I am running Kerio Connect 7.0 on Microsoft Windows Server with ESET Endpoint Antivirus and want to upgrade to Kerio Connect 7.4.3.

    • Solution: Upgrade Kerio Connect normally.

  2. I am running Kerio Connect 7.0 on Microsoft Windows Server with ESET Endpoint Antivirus but want to perform a new installation of Kerio Connect 7.4.3.

    • Solution: Perform the new installation of Kerio Connect and use the antivirus plug-in dialog in the admin interface to configure antivirus.

  3. I am running Kerio Connect 7.4.3 on Microsoft Windows Server with ESET Endpoint Antivirus and want to upgrade to Kerio Connect 7.5.

    • Solution: Upgrade Kerio Connect normally. Even though Kerio Connect version 7.4 will not have the antivirus plug-in dialog within its admin interface, it will preserve your current settings and you will be able to use ESET Endpoint Antivirus without any issues.

  4. I am running Kerio Connect 7.4.3 on Microsoft Windows Server with ESET Endpoint Antivirus but want to perform a new installation of Kerio Connect 7.5.

    • This is not possible because there is no anti-virus plug-in dialog, so you will not be able to configure 3rd party AV within Kerio. Perform the upgrade described in scenario 3.

  5. I want to install Kerio Connect 7.4.3 and use ESET Endpoint Antivirus in conjunction with Kerio, but have not used Kerio before.

    • Solution: Perform a normal installation of Kerio Connect 7.4.3 and configure ESET Endpoint Antivirus using the antivirus plug-in dialog in the admin interface. Consult the Kerio user guide / product manual for details on how to perform the installation and configuration.
