ESET Anti-Theft

ESET Anti-Theft improves user security in the case of a lost or stolen computer.

Once users install ESET Smart Security 6 and enable ESET Anti-Theft, their device will be listed in the web interface. The web interface allows users to manage their ESET Anti-Theft configuration and perform actions such as marking computers as missing. Users must create a my.eset.com account to access the web interface. For more information on Anti-Theft, visit the following ESET Knowledgebase article:

Improved Anti-Phishing protection

ESET Smart Security 6 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 6 will display a warning notification with several options when a web browser attempts to access websites or domains cataloged in the ESET malware database. For more information on Anti-Phishing visit the following Knowledgebase article:

ESET Social Media Scanner

ESET Social Media Scanner is designed to protect you from malicious content distributed through social networks. The ESET Social Media Scanner monitors new social media content (for example, wall postings containing links or media on Facebook) and looks for malicious code.

Rollback previous virus signature database

If you suspect that a virus signature database or product module update may be unstable or corrupt, you can roll back to the previous version and disable updates for a set period of time.

Modified Parental control management

In ESET Smart Security 6 there are no longer Parental control roles such as child, teenager or parent. Parental control categories are filtered according to user account age. You can adjust these categories for each user account individually once Parental control is enabled.

Improved firewall intrusion detection system (IDS)

ESET Smart Security version 6 features more advanced filtering options to detect various types of attacks and vulnerabilities that can be carried out against your computer (for example, improved handling MSRPC communication over SMB protocol).

Improved download scanning

In previous versions, files downloaded from the Internet were scanned by ESET only after they were completely downloaded. ESET Smart Security and ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 6 scan specific file types (for example archives) during the download process so that the user does not have to wait until after the download process for files to be scanned.

Idle-state scanning

When the computer is in idle state, a silent computer scan can be performed on all local drives. You can choose which Idle state detection triggers (for example the screen saver starts or the computer is locked) cause a scan to run.
