How do I configure ESET clients to access the Mirror server in ESET Remote Administrator?
KB Solution ID: SOLN852|Last Revised: November 20, 2009

After you have created your Mirror server, you must configure client workstations to access it for updates. There are two methods for configuring client workstations to access the Mirror server. The first method is to create and push an .xml configuration file from the ESET Remote Administrator (ERA) to client workstations (see sections 3.2 and 5.1 of the ESET Remote Administrator Guide for detailed information).

Click here for instructions about pushing out an .xml configuration to your network.

The second method is to manually configure each client workstation to access the Mirror server. If you only have 4 or 5 client workstations which will be accessing the Mirror server for updates, you may prefer this method. To manually configure each workstation, follow the steps below:

Configuring 4.0 and 3.0 clients to access the Mirror server

  1. Open the main program window by clicking the icon next to the system clock or by clicking Start → All Programs → ESET → ESET Smart Security or ESET NOD32 Antivirus.

  2. Press the F5 key to display the Advanced Setup window. From the tree structure on the left, click Update and then click the Edit... button on the right.

  3. To add your Mirror server as an update server, enter the server name or IP address in the following format: http://your_server_name:2221 or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2221.

  4. Click Add, then click OK to return to the Advanced Setup window.

  5. Make sure the Username and Password fields are blank and that the Mirror server name or address is visible (See Fig. 1-3). Click OK once more to save your settings and close the Advanced Setup window.

The ESET client you have just configured should now update successfully from the Mirror server.

Configuring 2.x clients to access the Mirror server

  1. Open the NOD32 Control Center by clicking the icon next to the system clock or by clicking Start → All Programs → Eset → NOD32 Control Center.

  2. Click Update Update and then click Setup in the Update window on the right. The Setup of Automatic Update window appears.

  3. Click the Servers button to display the Servers window.

  4. To add your Mirror server as an update server, click the Add... button. As specified in the ESET Remote Aministrator manual, the Mirror server should be entered in the format http://server_name:2221/nod32v2/ or http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:2221/nod32v2/. Click OK.

  5. Click OK again to return to the Setup of Automatic Update window. Select the Mirror server you just added from the Server drop-down menu, and make sure the Username and Password fields are blank.

  6. Click OK once more to save your settings and close the Advanced Setup window. The ESET client you have just configured should now update successfully from the Mirror server.
