[KB2306] Recommended settings for ESET server products on a Citrix server (4.x)

Details

ESET server products can run in a virtualized environment using default settings, but by making a few small changes you can minimize the impact to performance ESET products will have on your virtual machine.

Solution

End of support for version 4 ESET Mail Security and File Security products

ESET Mail Security version 4 and ESET File Security version 4 have reached End of Life status. These products are no longer receiving detection updates to protect against malware. You must upgrade to a more recent version in order to be protected against threats.

 

I. Disable the EGUI from loading for all sessions

II. Scan file execution events and local drives only

  1. Open ESET File Security. Click Start All Programs → ESET → ESET File Security → ESET File Security.
     
  2. Press F5 to access Setup.
     
  3. Expand Computer protectionAntivirus and antispywareReal-time file system protection.
     
  4. Deselect the check boxes next to Network drives, File open, File Creation and Diskette access. When you are finished, continue to the next section.

III. Add needed exclusions

  1. Expand Antivirus and antispyware and click Exclusions by path.
     
  2. Click Add and exclude the directory:

    C:Program FilesCitrix*

    View the Citrix Consolidated list of Antivirus exclusions

  3. Click OK to save your changes.
